Digital Power Network Written Testimony to the Ohio Select Committee on Data Centers
Washington, DC — The Digital Power Network (DPN), the largest coalition of Bitcoin miners and AI data center developers, submitted written testimony to the Ohio Select Committee on Data Centers ahead of its June 11 hearing to hear testimony from data center related industry groups.
In its submission, DPN highlighted the sector's significant economic contributions, citing a recent Ohio Chamber of Commerce Research Foundation study finding that the industry supports more than 95,000 jobs and contributes $11.8 billion to state GDP, with high-paying, permanent positions and broad bipartisan labor support.
DPN emphasized that its members offer complementary tools to support grid reliability and manage electricity costs. Bitcoin mining operations provide uniquely flexible loads that can curtail consumption during peak demand, while AI and cloud data centers catalyze new generation and transmission investment under strict financial guardrails that protect other ratepayers.
The testimony also detailed the industry's record of responsible water use, its role in revitalizing Ohio's legacy industrial sites, and its ongoing investments in local communities as well as the national security imperative of keeping AI and digital infrastructure development on American soil.
Looking ahead, DPN urged the Committee to expand demand response programs, recognize load flexibility in utility forecasting, modernize permitting, and preserve the policy predictability that has made Ohio a destination for long-term capital investment.
